Recently, GigaDevice and Beijing Academy of Science and Technology jointly announced that they will cooperate to build a remote autonomous intelligent robot chip application laboratory, and held a grand unveiling ceremony at the opening of the 2022 International Autonomous Intelligent Robot Competition.
It is understood that GigaDevice's GD32 MCU has developed into the mainstream choice in China's 32-bit general-purpose microcontroller market, and has ranked first in China with a cumulative shipment volume of more than 1 billion units, more than 20,000 customers, and a wide application coverage provided by more than 450 product options in 37 series.
This autonomous intelligent robot chip application laboratory will leverage the advantages of multiple parties, with GigaDevice's rich and complete MCU product family and development ecosystem, combined with the strong strength of many universities and research institutions such as the Beijing Institute of Technology and Tsinghua University, to create an MCU technology innovation, learning and training, and development exchange platform related to autonomous robot control for teachers, students, and scientific researchers in universities, and continue to empower robot AI talent construction and industrial development.
On the other hand, the laboratory will consolidate the technical achievements of the International Autonomous Intelligent Robot Competition over the years, accumulate innovative applications of chips and artificial intelligence technologies, further implement the construction of Beijing Science and Technology Innovation Center, and explore the use of chip technology innovation to promote industry application innovation. The laboratory will gather researchers from relevant research institutions and disciplines at home and abroad through a high-efficiency shared robot experimental platform to conduct scientific research, algorithm programming, and chip innovation application development, thereby improving the level of scientific research collaboration and output efficiency.
"Remote" is the laboratory's innovative advantage. It will support researchers in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics at home and abroad to conduct scientific research and upload programming codes. Through the live broadcast system, the robot can be debugged and tested in real time, and the experimental result data can be received; the robot's behavior can be recorded and analyzed through scientific instruments, the efficiency of autonomous intelligent research and development of robots can be improved, and a high-efficiency shared robot experimental platform can be built.
The laboratory will also focus on applications related to autonomous intelligent robots, develop various types of robot sensors and actuators based on the GD32 MCU chip, and conduct usage evaluations. At the same time, it will also develop autonomous intelligent software, hardware, and AI algorithms.
At present, GigaDevice's MCU chips have been deeply cooperated with many domestic robot host manufacturers and have matured mass production, with continuous improvement in technology level and expansion of market space. The establishment of this autonomous intelligent robot chip application laboratory also indicates that GigaDevice will continue to focus on investment in robot-related fields to explore more innovative application scenarios and development potential.
