The Kuka China Shunde Manufacturing Plant is located in the first phase of the Midea Kuka Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Park in Beijiao, Shunde, Guangdong. The park covers an area of 433 acres and was officially put into production in early 2019. The park has produced nearly 800 robots since 2019, and the output will exceed 20,000 units by 2021. It produces six-axis robots with loads ranging from 3Kg to 500Kg, SCARA, DELTA, AMR robots and logistics automation products, which will be sold all over the world.

The factory has been looking for a set of digital intelligent logistics solutions. It currently plans to start with the transformation of line-side material handling in order to ultimately realize the beautiful vision of "robots making robots".

In order to meet the digital and intelligent development plan of the factory, KUKA Robotics plans to first realize the AMR automatic delivery of line-side materials inside the robot factory on the first floor of Shunde Park, deploy several lurking lifting KUKA AMRs to complete the unmanned delivery of materials, and plan a set of K-MR

The S software system is used for process scheduling, task execution, route planning, traffic control, log management, etc.

KUKA China Shunde Manufacturing Plant

Difficulty - Challenge

1. Reduce manual handling, realize the delivery of goods to people, realize the automation of four scenarios such as manipulator loading and unloading, and empty carrier return

2. Reduce forklift operations in the workshop, reduce safety risks, and avoid errors caused by manual operation

3. Realize the dataization, paperless and transparency of logistics information, and improve the level of digitalization and management

4. The workshop is narrow, with multiple vehicles and personnel passing through frequently, which places high demands on the safety of AMR.

5. The AMR operation area is part of the factory area, and the environmental change rate on both sides of the channel is very large, exceeding 90%

Solution

Several laser SLAM navigation KMP 600i were deployed on site to replace the previous QR code navigation AGV, realizing the automated handling and transfer of materials in 11 station areas and 4 major scenarios. The 4 major scenarios are cleaning line distribution, warehouse to line warehouse, distribution line material distribution and rail pallet truck recycling. At the same time, the project is equipped with a K-MR

S software system is used to realize the process arrangement, task distribution, robot scheduling, path planning, log management and other functions of the entire project.

Customer Value

No need for modification, fast deployment

Laser SLAM AMR replaces QR code navigation AGV, helping customers solve the problem of repeated QR code maintenance. Real-time dynamic mapping is built on site, and rapid deployment is completed in a few hours without affecting normal production.

Reduce labor and improve efficiency

Using multiple KUKA AMR-KMP 600i to replace manual handling reduces the manpower by 3-5 people, can meet 24-hour uninterrupted work, can more accurately adapt to the factory production rhythm, and greatly improve production efficiency

Improve working environment safety

Previously, when manually moving large and heavy materials, there was a risk of safety accidents such as tilting and tipping. Now, the addition of multiple KMP 600i machines avoids the uncertainty of manual handling and safety accidents, making the factory environment simpler and safer.

Improve intelligence and digitalization

By deploying multiple KMP 600i+K-MR

The S software system has taken an important step towards the digital upgrade of the factory. Currently, the factory's material management has also been paperless and digitalized, with more transparent and efficient management.
