From the perspective of segmented application scenarios, the application of machine vision in the industrial field is mainly detection, identification, measurement and positioning.

In order to better meet the needs of various robot guidance and positioning, Mech-Mind has officially launched the fourth-generation Mech-Eye LSR (formerly Laser series) industrial laser 3D camera after long-term research and development. Compared with the previous generation of products, the fourth-generation Mech-Eye LSR has a 50% smaller volume, a 100% improvement in ambient light resistance, a 40% improvement in anti-reflective light performance, and a new color point cloud function . At the same time, it still has outstanding advantages in terms of accuracy, field of view, speed, stability, etc.

At present, Mech-Eye LSR has been applied in batches to various typical application scenarios such as loading, positioning, guiding glue coating/spraying/welding, and steel plate picking .

The performance against ambient light is further improved, and high-quality imaging can still be achieved under strong ambient light

In logistics warehouses and manufacturing plants such as automobiles and steel, large-area floor-to-ceiling windows are often used for lighting to save energy. As a result, there is usually strong ambient light interference on the actual site, which poses a great challenge to 3D camera imaging. After long-term research at customer sites, Mecha-Mind found that the ambient light intensity of a typical factory building is between 15,000 lx and 20,000 lx, and can reach 20,000 lx or even higher in summer.

Based on the continuous optimization of laser structured light technology and self-developed core components, the fourth-generation Mech-Eye LSR has further improved its ambient light resistance. According to tests, Mech-Eye LSR can generate complete, detailed and accurate point cloud data for various typical workpieces under strong ambient light interference (>30000 lx) . Some common materials can still be imaged under conditions of >100000 lx (approximately equivalent to the intensity of outdoor midday sunlight in summer). The excellent ambient light resistance of Mech-Eye LSR can significantly reduce the cost of customized shading equipment for enterprises and improve production flexibility.

Self-developed advanced optical technology and algorithms for more complete imaging of bright reflective objects

In actual production sites such as automobiles, construction machinery, and steel, intelligent robots often need to handle a large number of high-brightness reflective workpieces. Mech-Eye LSR uses a new self-developed optical technology and algorithm to further improve its anti-reflective light performance. It can effectively deal with the interference of strong reflections and image high-brightness reflective objects more completely . It can easily handle typical workpieces such as machined parts and structural parts that have been processed by fine processing and grinding processes.

High precision, fast speed, and field of view that can meet typical robot guidance requirements

Using self-developed high-speed laser structured light technology and core components, Mech-Eye LSR has the advantages of high precision and high speed . The sub-model Mech-Eye LSR L takes as little as 0.5 s from taking a picture to acquiring 3D data (the time is related to the actual site and the material of the object), with a measurement accuracy of 1.0 mm @ 3.0 m (based on VDI/VDE 2634 Part II) and a far-end field of view of 3000 × 2400 mm @ 3.0 m , meeting the requirements of large field of view conditions. It can still reliably guarantee accuracy under long-distance installation conditions, and is suitable for typical robot guidance requirements that require both accuracy and field of view.

The upgraded Mech-Eye LSR has added a color point cloud function , which can better meet the needs of different application scenarios, such as: grasping metal parts, destacking objects such as cartons/turnover boxes/sacks, and teaching scenarios with specific requirements for point cloud effects.

More compact size and more complete interfaces enable rapid deployment of various applications

The size of Mech-Eye LSR is reduced to 50 % of the previous generation , making it more compact. It supports multiple installation methods and can flexibly cope with the complex installation environments of various real applications. Mech-Eye LSR provides multi-language and multi-platform SDK options , is compatible with GenICam , supports machine vision software such as Halcon , and has a more complete interface, which is more open and easy to use. With the newly upgraded Mech-Vision graphical machine vision software and Mech-Viz robot intelligent programming environment, users can easily and quickly deploy various typical applications.

Industrial-grade design to better cope with actual on-site challenges
In addition, the Mech-Eye LSR shell is still made of aviation aluminum alloy and is fully enclosed. It has an IP65 protection level and has passed multiple international certifications such as CE, FCC, VCCI, RoHS, and 40,000 hours MTBF (mean time between failures) , and can cope with harsh environments such as dust, vibration, humidity, electromagnetic interference, and high temperature.

A large construction machinery factory - visually guided deep frame chain track segment grabbing and loading

Project Background:

The track links are heavy, and manual handling and loading are labor-intensive and inefficient. At the customer site, the track links were stacked in a disorderly manner in a deep frame, and there were problems such as dark surface and complex structure. The customer planned to use 3D vision to automate the production line.
