There are many types of SMD capacitors, and the parameters of SMD capacitors used in different products are also different. The reason why automotive professional SMD capacitors are special is that the SMD capacitors used in cars must meet the conditions of use. The fields of use of automotive special SMD capacitors include: car lights (fog lights, headlights), instrument panels, GPS navigation, transmission indicator lights, etc.

Cars are used for travel, and safety is the primary consideration. From every dimension, even a small screw must be handled with extreme caution.

What is the difference between automotive grade chip capacitors and ordinary chip capacitors? Can ordinary chip capacitors be used in cars?

①Automotive-grade chip capacitors are AEC-Q200 certified, which improves the reliability of product quality, while ordinary chip capacitors do not have such certification. In terms of reliability, they can no longer be used in cars.

② The components used in cars have higher temperature requirements. The maximum operating temperature of automotive-grade SMD capacitors can reach 150°C, while the maximum operating temperature of ordinary SMD capacitors is only 125°C. The test temperature of automotive-grade SMD capacitors reaches 85°C, while the test temperature of ordinary SMD capacitors is 40°C. The SMD capacitors used in cars have higher temperature requirements, and ordinary SMD capacitors cannot meet this requirement at all. Therefore, ordinary SMD capacitors cannot be used in cars.

③ The temperature cycle of automotive-grade chip capacitors is 1,000 cycles, while the temperature cycle of ordinary chip capacitors is 5 cycles. It can be seen that the service life of automotive-grade chip capacitors is 200 times higher than that of ordinary chip capacitors. The design life of general automobiles is about 15 years and 200,000 kilometers, which is much longer than the life requirements of consumer electronic products.
