The main features are: the amplifier is powered by a high voltage power supply or a low voltage power supply according to the signal requirements. Since the peak value of music has a large ratio to the effective value, the efficiency can be improved by using a Class G amplifier.

Most of the time, the power output of a Class G amplifier is much lower than the peak power level. When a high power peak occurs occasionally, the amplifier must use some mechanism to immediately provide high power output, and the internal energy consumption also increases at the same time. This high power output only occurs in a very short time.

The definition of a Class G amplifier is similar to the current processing method with a charge pump + AGC, so many manufacturers in the industry define amplifiers with the characteristics of a boost (ChargePump or Boost) + AGC control as Class G amplifiers.
