Nuvoton, a leading microcontroller manufacturer, and RT-Thread, a well-known IoT operating system manufacturer, signed a membership cooperation agreement, and Nuvoton officially became a senior member of RT-Thread. The two parties will work together in depth and give full play to their respective advantages to provide developers and end customers with a richer and more flexible software and hardware development ecosystem and product portfolio options, accelerate product development efficiency, and jointly build the development of the IoT industry ecosystem.
The Sino-US trade war and the COVID-19 pandemic have brought tremendous changes to the global industry. The demand for application innovation in many industries is unprecedentedly strong. Nuvoton Technology continues to innovate and launch diverse controller platforms that meet the needs of different application scenarios. The product line covers Cortex-M0, Cortex-M23, Cortex-M4, and Arm9 cores.
Currently, Nuvoton Technology has ported RT-Thread to its Cortex-M0 (M032 series), Cortex-M23 (M2354 series), Cortex-M4 (M487 series), and ARM9 (NUC980 series) core MCU/MPU (microcontroller/processor), and provides complete peripheral driver support, allowing developers to use it out of the box, thus eliminating the complicated underlying software development and firmware integration work. With RT-Thread's rich components and software packages, development efficiency can be further improved, allowing developers to focus more on application innovation and enhance product competitiveness in the market. In order to further enhance the developer's development experience and efficiency, the two parties will work together to provide Nuvoton chip support packages and board support packages on RT-Thread Studio to achieve a one-stop development experience.
Nuvoton Technology said that the RT-Thread IoT operating system is completely open source, has rich middleware and complete documentation, and has a good developer ecosystem. After a long period of technological accumulation, it has a large-scale installed base in industries such as industrial control and the Internet of Things, and its maturity and reliability have been verified. At the same time, at the front end of the market, we have also felt a sharp increase in customer demand for RT-Thread. This is why Nuvoton chose to cooperate with Ruiside Technology.
