The 3D art app Styly is now available for Nreal’s AR glasses Light: you can use it to load different 3D exhibits in your browser, and then use the Nreal glasses to view them in 3D. The artworks can be browsed or walked around just like with VR glasses.

The open design of the Nreal glasses and the fast smartphone connection make it very easy to enter the world of 3D art. The fact that the NrealLight sits relatively slim on the nose should make exposure to 3D technology less intimidating, especially for XR beginners.

The Styly app for Nreal is available for free in the Android App Store. The app itself has been on the market for a few years and also supports common VR glasses, such as on SteamVRforVive and Index or on OculusQuest through Sidequest (Sidequest instructions).

Advantages of Virtual Reality and Space-Filling Art

However, the 3D artwork presented often works better in VR. VR glasses offer higher-quality images and a wider field of view, especially in space-filling photogrammetry works.

Background: Using AR glasses to fill space with artwork and objects ensures that you can see the field of view completely clearly because it is completely filled - this enhances the feeling that you are carrying the display close to your eyes rather than projecting it across the room. A direct comparison between the VR and AR versions of Styly clearly demonstrates this difference.

Nreal's AR glasses have been available in South Korea and Japan since the summer. This year, the device will come to Germany through Vodafone and Telekom. The price is unknown. More information in our NrealLight pre-test.
