HP recently announced a partnership with Tile, a Bluetooth tracking technology company, to ensure that laptops equipped with Intel hardware will be easier to track after they are lost. Now, HP has announced that this technology will soon be used in new HP laptops.
In May this year, Tile and Intel announced that they would introduce their own tracking technology into laptops to help users find their lost or stolen PC products. This time, HP's new products are the first laptop products to use Tile technology.
Tile CEO CJ Prober said that Tile technology is a pre-installed software solution that does not require additional hardware, so it is more convenient and easy to use. To activate the tracking function of the laptop, the technology must be enabled through the Tile Windows 10 application. Then, users can use the Tile mobile app to locate the lost machine, even if it is in sleep, hibernation or soft shutdown mode.
Currently, new laptops with Tile technology include the HP EliteBook 800 G8 series (EliteBook x360 830, 830, 840 and 850) and the ZBook Firefly G8 mobile workstation.
However, everything has two sides. Although this tracking function will be welcomed by individuals and businesses, it means that your location can be known by relevant technical personnel at any time.
New laptops featuring Tile technology include the HP EliteBook 800 G8 series (EliteBook x360 830, 830, 840 and 850) and the ZBook Firefly G8 mobile workstation, which will be available this month.
