It is reported that Coolpad launched a series of patent infringement lawsuits against Xiaomi in 2018.
Coolpad claimed that the defendants Xiaomi Communication Technology Co., Ltd. and Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd., etc., produced and sold infringing products, which infringed the plaintiff's three invention patents, with patent numbers ZL200610034034.8, ZL201210250264.3, and ZL201210064396.7. As of now, some of the cases are still under trial in court.
Coolpad said, "We deeply feel that the country's development is still in an important strategic opportunity period. Facing the profound and complex changes in the domestic and international environment, breaking through the technological bottleneck and promoting better and faster development of the industry is the primary task of technology companies including Coolpad and Xiaomi.
Therefore, Coolpad decided to take the initiative to terminate the series of patent lawsuits with Xiaomi and withdraw the ongoing related cases from now on."
Coolpad emphasized that Coolpad is willing to carry out various forms of technical exchanges and cooperation with outstanding companies inside and outside the industry, and on the basis of respecting technological innovation and intellectual property rights, jointly promote the implementation of the "technological self-reliance" strategy and work together to create a comprehensive and prosperous industry prospect.
