It is reported that Foxconn Group's Wisconsin plant has successively exposed or announced plans to continue to expand the types of locally manufactured products, including network communication products, network security products, network communication key components and respirators.
In terms of technology service applications, the first set of integrated products from the Wisconsin plant was officially shipped in early February this year, assisting the American Briggo coffee team in providing 24-hour coffee robot services.
According to foreign media reports, Foxconn executives confirmed that they will produce network security-related products locally this spring, with the goal of starting production operations at the end of April or local spring time.
Before the Sino-US trade war intensified, Hon Hai Group accelerated the optimization of global supply chain production and launched a series of precise transfer strategies, focusing on the United States, Mexico, Vietnam, Taiwan and other places. This year, the US layout has made new progress and is expected to expand the Wisconsin manufacturing product line. Hon Hai Group plans that the Wisconsin campus in the United States will provide local production products for more applications in communications and cloud computing (including data and storage, etc.), and provide technology services for enterprises to apply intelligence or more efficient manufacturing.
This is part of Hon Hai Group's continuation of its supply chain "precision transfer" strategy since 2018. In response to the needs of American customers, some mid-to-high-end network communication products will be produced outside of mainland China to meet the growing needs of customers.
Regarding the group's overseas production layout, Foxconn Chairman Liu Yangwei has repeatedly announced at legal conferences since he took office last year that the manufacturing industry is developing towards regional manufacturing centers, and is continuing to push for 30% of its production capacity to be overseas.
In addition, as the new coronavirus epidemic spreads in the United States, Wisconsin and other places, Foxconn Group is assembling masks at its factory in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin.
The relevant mask products are assembled and tested by Hon Hai Group in its Wisconsin plant, and the packaging design is assisted by the Japanese Sharp brand through a sub-investment. Hon Hai plans to assemble tens of thousands of masks in its Wisconsin plant for use by medical professionals, law enforcement units, pharmacists, and family caregivers.
Hon Hai Group is also working with U.S. medical device company Medtronic to develop ventilators, and plans to produce them at its Wisconsin plant, hoping to speed up mass production and join the epidemic prevention efforts as soon as possible.
