Competition in the domestic wearable device market is also very fierce. Recently, IDC released the third quarter domestic wearable device market shipment data, with Xiaomi and Huawei leading the way.

According to IDC's third quarter shipment data for the domestic wearable device market, total shipments in the third quarter reached 27.15 million units, up 45.2% year-on-year. The top five are: Xiaomi, Huawei, Apple, BBK, and Qihoo 360.

The smart wearable device market is extremely hot, and traditional giants have launched a variety of wearable smart devices to seize a part of the wearable smart device market. It is not difficult to see from the ranking that domestic brands occupy a large part of the shipments. Although they are all wearable devices, the product positioning and composition of each company in the market are different.

Let's talk about Xiaomi first. The brand has always promoted cost-effective smart bracelets as its main product. The bracelet product line started early and has a relatively loyal user base. Although the smart watch was only recently launched, with the bracelet users as the base, there is no fear that no one will buy it. The Huawei brand has been involved in the smart watch, bracelet and wireless headset markets. The product line covers more scenarios and has a wider audience. The Apple brand mainly relies on the hot sales of Apple Watch and AirPods products to win the third place. According to data analysis, Apple's wearable device shipments will reach a new high next year; the remaining BBK and Qihoo 360 brands focus on the children's watch market and also have a very good user reputation.

In fact, I am not surprised by the explosive growth in shipments of wearable devices. In an environment of rapid technological development, the functions of smartphones are all the same, and many phones even look the same. At this time, different devices are needed to meet our growing needs and allow us to have more different experiences.

The competitiveness of new smart hardware depends on the competitiveness of the entire industry chain, including the comprehensive competitiveness of hardware supply chain, user base and platform operation services. Apple, Google and Microsoft have strong comprehensive competitiveness and are expected to seize the initiative in the field of new smart hardware.

Currently, most of the profits from wearable devices are still in the hands of hardware manufacturers, while service providers based on smart terminal products only get a small part of it. Data shows that 75% of the profits from wearable devices will be obtained by hardware manufacturers; the remaining 25% will be divided between semiconductor manufacturers and various service providers, of which semiconductor manufacturers will get about 3%, manufacturers providing services such as mobile commerce will get about 18%, and manufacturers providing data analysis and consumer services will get about 4%.

IDC China Research Manager Pan Xuefei believes that wearable devices are important devices that connect mobile scenarios with other scenarios such as home and car in the future. They have unique advantages in use because they can obtain human vital signs data through biosensor technology. In the future, wearable devices will become an important carrier for the development of human-computer interaction from screen and voice to vision and sensing, and combine multiple interaction methods.

IDC also made a forecast for the market in the next five years. According to the report, by 2023, the shipment volume of wearable devices in China will be close to 200 million units. In terms of products, ear-worn wearable devices and wrist-worn wearable devices (bracelets and watches) will become the mainstream forms in the market in the future, and ear-worn wearable devices will occupy half of the overall market in the future.
