AMD previously announced the latest Ryzen 3000 platform BIOS plan . The new version of AGESA 1.0.0.4 will further optimize the CPU acceleration frequency. Now MSI has officially announced its 500/400/300 series motherboard BIOS upgrade plan.

It was previously rumored that the AGESA 1.0.0.4 microcode BIOS will bring hundreds of features and fixes, but there is no clear information yet. There are some rumors about frequency increases. On the ASRock X470 motherboard and Ryzen 7 3800X processor, if the current AGESA 1.0.0.3 version of the BIOS is used, the acceleration frequency is only 4245MHz. Using the latest AGESA 1.0.0.4 version of the BIOS, the acceleration frequency is increased by 80Hz to 4325MHz, which is about a 2% increase in frequency.

According to the progress announced by MSI, AMD distributed the AGESA 1.0.0.4 microcode to ODM manufacturers in early October. MSI will first upgrade the AGESA 1.0.0.4 microcode for its X570 motherboards before the end of October, and the 400 Max series motherboards will be upgraded in mid-November. All 300 and 400 series motherboards will be upgraded to the latest BIOS before the end of November.

It is still unclear how much performance improvement the AGESA 1.0.0.4 microcode BIOS will bring, but MSI mentioned that one of the focuses of this BIOS upgrade is to speed up the boot time.

According to data from Overclock3's website, the BIOS boot speed of the AGESA 1.0.0.4 microcode has been greatly accelerated. The time required to restart to the BIOS after clearing the CMOS has been shortened from 33 seconds to 25 seconds. The time required for normal boot and saving the BIOS restart has been reduced from 23 seconds to 16 seconds. The overall speed has been increased by about 20%.
