At the Intel Innovation Product Launch Conference, Intel released the first E1.L specification SSD D5-P4326, which is based on enterprise-level QLC NAND flash memory particles and has an available capacity of up to 15.36TB and 30.72TB.

Of course, we are not surprised by the large capacity of enterprise-class SSDs these days. The key point is the shape, which is simply an extended version of M.2, and looks like a ruler! It is a bit weird!

It belongs to the " RULER " family, with specifications of E1.L, standard thickness of 9.5mm, and the thickness can be increased to 18mm with the addition of a heat sink. The E1.L SSD interface supports PCIe 3.1 x4/x8 channels, with a theoretical maximum bandwidth of 3.94GB/s and 7.68GB/s in one direction, and will support x16 in the future; and it can be upgraded to PCIe 4.0/5.0 at any time, with a bandwidth of 50-63GB/s.

According to Intel, the D5-P4326 SSD has been deployed at the beginning of this year, and now the 15.36TB and 30.72TB models are ready for mass production and commercial use. The advantage of this model is its ultra-high storage density, which can achieve a total capacity of 1PB (1000TB) in a 1U server; in terms of performance, the continuous read speed is 3.2GB/s, the continuous write speed is 1.6GB/s, the random read and write speed is as high as 580,000 IOPS/110 million IOPS, and the average read latency is 137ms; although the performance is not very strong, it is probably compared with the earlier U. 2 D5-P4320, which mainly improves the random read and write performance, which is exactly what the server needs! In terms of read and write life, it reaches 0.18 full-disk random writes and 0.9 full-disk continuous reads per day; in addition, there is also a U. 2 version with a capacity of 15.36TB.

So although Intel has been very low-key in the consumer SSD field in the past two years, it is very active in the enterprise market. After all, enterprise products are very profitable! Who doesn’t love it?
