Nanxin Technology (stock code: 688484) simultaneously launched two heavyweight car charging cells - the high-power buck- boost converter SC87550Q/SC87580Q with a fully integrated USB PD solution , and the Type-C/PD fast charging controller SC2166Q that supports private charging protocols. These two products focus on the current pain points of slow car charging speed and poor compatibility, greatly improving the power and efficiency of car charging. At the same time, they can support more charging protocols and diversified terminal applications such as mobile phones, tablets, and laptops, injecting more power into the car charging system. At present, Nanxin Technology provides a rich product portfolio in the field of car charging. On the basis of supporting different customer needs, it continues to lead the car charging market through forward-looking product layout.
Focus on industry pain points and improve car charging experience
Compared with the rapidly developing mobile phone fast charging market, current car chargers still face the problem of low charging efficiency. The charging speed of the same terminal device in the car has dropped significantly, affecting the user experience. On the one hand, the power of the current in-car wired charging system itself is limited, and there is still a gap with the mobile phone fast charging of more than 100 watts; on the other hand, the protocol compatibility of the car charging system is poor, usually only supporting a single mainstream fast charging protocol, and it is difficult to give full play to the charging efficiency advantages of some terminal equipment private protocols.
Based on the above insights, Nanxin Technology has taken a two-pronged approach. Based on the original family of in-vehicle charging chips, it has upgraded and iterated its products from the two perspectives of high power and private protocol compatibility, improved car charging efficiency and experience, and promoted the development of the in-vehicle fast charging market.
High-power single-chip integrated solution makes car charging faster
SC87550Q/SC87580Q is a buck-boost converter that integrates four MOSFETs and a USB PD controller. It uses a 22 -pin 4mm*5mm wettable flank QFN package , has a wide input voltage range of 4.5V-36V , can output 3.3V-22.5V voltage, and supports a maximum continuous output current of 5A . SC87550Q and SC87580Q single chips can support up to 60W and 100W charging power, and SC87550Q does not require an external MOSFET, saving system BOM cost, and is perfectly adapted to high-power vehicle fast charging applications.
The chip adopts current mode control, which has faster transient response and better loop stability. Taking SC87550Q as an example, its peak efficiency can reach more than 97%, and the surface peak temperature can be as low as 62.7℃ under full load.

*Test conditions: F PWM mode, no spread spectrum and line loss compensation, FSW=420kHz, RSENSE=5mΩ
SC87550Q/SC87580Q is compatible with Programmable Power Supply function and supports multiple mainstream charging protocols, including USB PD3.1, QC2.0/QC3.0, Huawei FCP, BC1.2, 3A Divider Mode, etc., providing users with All-in-one universal protocol support.
In terms of safety, these two chips provide a full range of protection mechanisms, including input overvoltage protection , output overvoltage protection, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, DP/DM/CCx short circuit to battery and short circuit to output protection, output short circuit protection , average output current limiting and thermal shutdown protection. When the battery voltage is low or the temperature is high, the output power can be automatically reduced to ensure system safety. The power management state machine of SC87550Q is shown in the figure below:
