The top fifteen domestic power battery companies in terms of installed capacity in May are released!

Recently, the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance released the monthly information of domestic power batteries in May 2024, as follows:

Production In terms of production : In May, China's total production of power and other batteries was 82.7GWh, a month-on-month increase of 5.7% and a year-on-year increase of 34.7%. From January to May, China's cumulative production of power and other batteries was 345.5GWh, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 39.0%.

In terms of sales: In May, my country's sales of power and other batteries were 77.9GWh, a month-on-month increase of 14.3% and a year-on-year increase of 40.7%. The sales of power batteries and other batteries accounted for 72.2% and 27.8% respectively. Compared with the previous month, the proportion of power batteries decreased by 2.8 percentage points. From January to May, the cumulative sales of power and other batteries in my country were 310.4GWh, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 37.4%. The sales of power batteries and other batteries accounted for 80.2% and 19.8% respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of power batteries decreased by 3.3 percentage points.

In May, my country's power battery sales were 56.2GWh, up 12.9% month-on-month and 12.9% year-on-year. From January to May, my country's cumulative power battery sales were 248.8GWh, up 24.0% year-on-year.

In May, the sales volume of other batteries in my country was 21.7GWh, an increase of 18.2% month-on-month and 289.0% year-on-year. From January to May, the cumulative sales volume of other batteries in my country was 61.6GWh, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 144.1%.

In May, my country exported a total of 13.8GWh of power and other batteries, an increase of 8.6% month-on-month and 16.7% year-on-year. The export share of power batteries and other batteries was 71.0% and 29.0% respectively. Compared with the previous month, the share of power batteries increased by 0.1 percentage point. The total exports accounted for 17.7% of the sales volume that month. From January to May, my country's cumulative exports of power and other batteries reached 55.3GWh, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 8.1%. The share of power and other batteries was 84.9% and 15.1% respectively. Compared with the previous month, the share of power batteries decreased by 4.5 percentage points. The total cumulative exports accounted for 17.8% of the cumulative sales volume in the first five months.

In May, my country's power battery exports were 9.8GWh, up 8.9% from the previous month and down 13.1% from the previous year. From January to May, my country's cumulative power battery exports were 46.9GWh, up 2.9% from the previous year.

In May, my country's other battery exports were 4.0GWh, up 8.0% month-on-month and 644.0% year-on-year. From January to May, my country's cumulative exports of other batteries were 8.4GWh, up 50.1% year-on-year.

It can be seen that from the sales perspective, although power batteries still occupy a major market position compared to other batteries, their share has begun to decline, which reflects the increasing demand for batteries in industries such as energy storage.

In terms of installed capacity: In May, my country's installed capacity of power batteries was 39.9GWh, a year-on-year increase of 41.2% and a month-on-month increase of 12.6%. Among them, the installed capacity of ternary batteries was 10.4GWh, accounting for 26.0% of the total installed capacity, a year-on-year increase of 14.7% and a month-on-month increase of 4.3%; the installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 29.5GWh, accounting for 74% of the total installed capacity, a year-on-year increase of 54.1% and a month-on-month increase of 15.8%.

From January to May, the cumulative installed capacity of power batteries in my country reached 160.5GWh, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 34.6%. Among them, the cumulative installed capacity of ternary batteries reached 51.1GWh, accounting for 31.9% of the total installed capacity, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 34.9%; the cumulative installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries reached 109.3GWh, accounting for 68.1% of the total installed capacity, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 34.6%.

In terms of the installed capacity of sodium-ion and semi-solid-state batteries, the installed capacity of sodium-ion batteries in May was 0.3MWh, and the total installed capacity from January to May this year was 1.5MWh. The supporting enterprises were Farasis Energy, CATL, and China Science and Technology Haina. The installed capacity of semi-solid-state batteries in May was 482.9MWh, and the total installed capacity from January to May this year was 1621.8MWh. The supporting enterprise was Weilan New Energy .

Judging from the data of the top fifteen domestic power battery companies in terms of installed capacity in May 2024, the position of leading companies remains solid.

Compared with April, the top five companies in May remained unchanged, still CATL, BYD, Sinotruk, EVE Energy and Guoxuan High-tech. Among them, the market share of CATL, EVE Energy and Guoxuan High-tech declined compared with the previous month.

Among the companies ranked 6-10, there are still not many changes. Xinwoda, Honeycomb Energy, Zhengli New Energy, Ruipu Lanjun, LG Energy Solution, Jidian New Energy, Farasis Energy, Do-Fluoride, and Anchi New Energy are still on the list, but there are changes in market share.

It is worth noting that in May, Inpai Battery replaced Rongsheng Mengguli from the previous month and ranked 14th.

Public information shows that Inpai Battery was established in October 2022 and focuses on the production and manufacturing of power batteries for new energy vehicles . The company's experimental research business covers the production and manufacturing of power batteries for new energy vehicles, battery material research and development, and technical services for related products. In May this year, GAC Group announced a strategic investment in Inpai Battery.

It is understood that Dow Technology's conductive agent products are supplied to Inpai Batteries, and Yinghe Technology provides Inpai with equipment such as coating machines and roller-spreading machines.

Some institutions pointed out that at the end of 2023, GAC Inpai Battery Factory will officially go into production. It is expected to complete the introduction of all production lines by the end of 2025 and meet the installation demand of 600,000 vehicles. As one of the group's major customers, the impact of GAC Inpai batteries is expected to gradually manifest, resulting in the group's installed capacity growth being lower than the market.
