[Munich, Germany, April 16, 2024] Infineon Technologies AG continued to expand its leading position in the automotive semiconductor market in 2023. According to the latest research from TechInsights, the global automotive semiconductor market will grow by 16.5% in 2023, setting a record of US$69.2 billion. Infineon's overall market share increased by one percentage point, from nearly 13% in 2022 to about 14% in 2023, consolidating the company's leadership in the global automotive semiconductor market . Infineon's semiconductor products are an important component of various key automotive applications, including driver assistance and safety systems, powertrain and battery management systems, a variety of comfort functions, in-vehicle infotainment systems, and safety functions.
According to TechInsights data, Infineon's market share in all regions will increase in 2023, and it will continue to lead the Chinese and Korean markets. In addition, Infineon's share of the Japanese automotive semiconductor market has also increased significantly; its market share in Europe ranks second; and its market share in North America ranks among the top three.

“Infineon Technologies has secured the top spot in TechInsights’ 2023 automotive semiconductor vendor market share ranking with nearly 14% market share,” said Asif Anwar, executive director of TechInsights automotive end-market research . “The company’s automotive semiconductor revenue grew more than 26% year-over-year, extending its lead over the second and third place positions by 4 percentage points.”
Leading the global automotive microcontroller (MCU) market
Infineon's automotive MCU sales in 2023 increased by nearly 44% over the previous year, accounting for about 29% of the global market. The strong momentum of automotive MCU sales is the main factor driving Infineon's performance growth and helped the company become the world's number one in this market for the first time.
MCU is a key component in the automotive industry, used to control and monitor various systems in the car, such as electric powertrain, electrical and electronic (E/E) architecture, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving systems, radar and chassis. Infineon's AURIX™ MCU series and TRAVEO™ MCU series have driven the automotive industry's transformation to autonomous driving, networking and electric vehicles, and are important contributors to helping the company lead the global automotive MCU market. These two series combine power consumption and performance improvements with the latest trends in virtualization, AI modeling, functional safety, network security and network functions, laying the foundation for new E/E architectures and next-generation software-defined cars.
