As cloud computing grows rapidly around the world, the demand for high-performance data center infrastructure is growing. To meet this growing demand, developers can implement 400G technology by including the use of high-order modulation and high data rates up to 56 Gbaud. This new modulation scheme provides four-level pulse modulation (PAM4), which uses two bits to transmit each symbol, making the data rate twice that of traditional NRZ. Due to the lower signal-to-noise and only 1/3 the amplitude of the same NRZ, PAM4 requires more advanced tools and functions to be successfully verified.

One of the biggest challenges is to minimize the cost of testing each device while meeting the required technical specifications. Since PAM4 signals increase the number of tests that need to be performed as well as NRZ signals (by a factor of more than 10), a solution that displays measurements quickly to optimize adjustments and has the lowest noise is needed to maximize yield. >>> Click to view solution
