Automotive intelligent driving systems are currently being developed by both old and new car manufacturers. Huawei ADS, Xpeng NGP, Weilai NOP, Ideal AD, Tesla FSD, Xiaomi, Baidu Apollo, Zhiji, etc. all have independent intelligent driving systems.
The intelligent driving system is divided into five levels: L1-L5. Currently, they are all at the L2 level, and the L2 level is also subdivided into urban L2 and highway/elevated L2. Specifically, they are still at the highway L2 level.
Only Xiaopeng and Huawei's smart driving systems have released urban L2 smart driving systems. Xiaopeng G9, P7, Wenjie M5, and Avita 11 ( parameters | inquiry ) are all smart driving systems with complete L2 functions.
In principle, smart driving systems cost more money than car manufacturing and three-electric systems, and smart driving systems are software systems and will have a trend of greater unification in the future.
So why is everyone still spending money on research and development of smart driving systems? In fact, they are all betting that they will be the last remaining winner, because currently, except for Tesla FSD, there is no absolute leader in the Chinese market.
Moreover, the intelligent driving system is a software product that is deeply integrated with the automobile. It requires a deep foundation in both the fields of automobile manufacturing and software to have the foundation to win.
With the entry into urban L2, the money-burning war for smart driving systems will also enter the second stage. Smart driving systems in urban areas currently basically use picture-less solutions, relying on smart sensing hardware and algorithms, and AI to make the vehicle drive on its own. .
It is far more difficult than high-speed L2, and it is a great test for the company's R&D strength and investment. Car companies that cannot continue to invest will not have the possibility to enter higher-end intelligent driving systems.
Just before entering the L3 stage, I believe that the smart driving system can eliminate 90% of the players, and in the end, only three systems will be left with the ability to enter the L3 stage.
Who do you think these three will be?
