According to foreign media reports on February 15, BMW announced on Tuesday local time that it will cooperate with its parts supplier Valeo to develop an autonomous parking system called "Automated Valet Parking" (AVP for short). ) Level 4 automatic parking system.

The so-called "autonomous valet parking" aims to provide a fully automated and unmanned parking experience. According to reports, models based on German automaker Neue Klasse's dedicated electric vehicle platform will be the first to adopt this technology.

This cooperation will elevate the automation cooperation between the two parties to a new level. Previously, in June 2022, BMW and Valeo announced a cooperation to develop controllers, sensors and parking software for autonomous driving assistance systems.

BMW is not the first company to introduce such a system. Late last year, Mercedes-Benz announced the launch of the PARK PILOT Level 4 automated valet parking system, becoming the first company to launch such a system.

BMW's self-parking system, similar to Mercedes-Benz's PARK PILOT or Tesla's Smart Summon, is not yet available to customers, and the company has not said when it will be available.

Currently, some high-end BMW models, including the new 7 Series, can already park themselves with the help of Manoeuvre Assistant.
