CATL Energy Storage Laboratory launches UL Solutions' UL 9540A WTDP accredited laboratory project to form a more comprehensive battery energy storage system testing and verification capability
The cooperation between the two parties will help accelerate the safer and large-scale promotion of green renewable energy
On January 17, CATL signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding with UL Solutions, a global expert in application safety science, to jointly promote the safer and more reliable application of battery energy storage systems and power batteries.
According to the memorandum, CATL will start applying for the WTDP accreditation laboratory of UL 9540A. UL 9540A is a test standard for evaluating the spread of large-scale thermal runaway in battery energy storage systems. After obtaining the WTDP accredited laboratory qualification from UL Solutions, CATL can use its own laboratory testing equipment to conduct UL 9540A testing under the supervision of UL Solutions personnel, thereby further improving product testing efficiency and shortening the product launch cycle.
As the first domestic company to apply for UL Solutions UL 9540A WTDP accredited laboratory, CATL has all-level and all-round testing and verification capabilities. Currently, CATL has obtained the WTDP accredited laboratory qualifications granted by UL Solutions for the UL1973 energy storage and power auxiliary battery standard, the UL 9540 energy storage system and equipment standard, and the UL 2580 power battery standard.
CATL's star products, the outdoor liquid-cooled energy storage cabinet EnerOne and the container-type liquid-cooled energy storage system EnerC, both obtained the latest version of the UL 9540A test report, marking that CATL has become the first domestic company to obtain the latest version of UL Solutions for battery cells, cabinets, and A company that provides a full range of UL 9540A test reports at the container level.
In addition, both parties will leverage their respective strengths to conduct in-depth cooperation on standard research in the fields of lithium battery safety and environmental protection, and participate in the research and revision of relevant standards for energy storage batteries and power batteries. The two parties will also jointly explore business cooperation in reducing carbon emissions and other sustainable development aspects.
