According to foreign media reports, on October 18, local time, NTT Communications (NTT Com), an ICT solutions and international telecommunications business subsidiary of Japan's NTT Group, announced the development of edge computing, a technology that is expected to accelerate the data processing of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Technology) is the basic technology used in mobile connected devices (such as connected vehicles and robots). The "Network Edge Solution" incorporating this basic technology will be rolled out starting in December 2022, and NTT Com is currently looking for customers who can actually demonstrate the solution at business points. The company plans to enhance its R&D features based on feedback from customers who participated in demos and the results of hearings on high-demand features. Comprehensive services will be launched in fiscal year 2023 as new services capable of improving the performance of such mobile IoT devices.

The solution is enabled by leveraging network edge technology that enables edge computing at multiple locations near the mobile network (hereinafter referred to as "edge locations") to enable the functionality required by mobile IoT devices. For example, in connected vehicles, the operating status is uneven, the vehicle moves over a wide area, and a variety of data must be processed, including sensor and location information sent by a large number of operating vehicles. However, the solution enables multiple edge locations to cooperate with each other to enable large-scale networking and distributed processing of large amounts of data to accommodate the operation of connected vehicles. Additionally, the solution has the ability to deliver individual capabilities using a microservices architecture, allowing customers to select and leverage the capabilities they need based on their environment, such as on-premises or cloud computing.
