With the rapid development of the new energy power battery industry, a safe, reliable and durable battery system is a necessary condition to ensure the healthy development of the industry. The emergence of expansion force will bring harm to both the battery cell and the module, and coping with the battery cell expansion force has become a focus of research in the industry.
As a full-link solution provider with the ability to design and produce high-precision flexible sensors at the source, design mid-range dedicated acquisition chips, and apply downstream flexible sensors, Guowei Sensing has a professional software and hardware design and development team. It can provide customized solutions for different scenarios for monitoring different batteries such as lithium batteries and fuel cells. The use of independently developed high-precision pressure sensors can measure the real-time pressure distribution of the expansion force of the battery cell. Specific application scenarios include monitoring the external surface and internal expansion force of the battery cell, pressure testing of battery formation equipment, and thermal runaway monitoring of power batteries. It provides a real-time data foundation for optimizing and improving battery cell design, as well as safety monitoring and analysis throughout the life cycle.
Battery Pressure Detection Solution
Example of battery outer surface expansion force monitoring
Example 1
Example 1
This example uses the Guowei Sensing F606025 series pressure sensor. By measuring and analyzing the pressure distribution during the charging and discharging process, the overall pressure curve changes correspond to the charging and discharging process. After the charging and discharging are completed, relaxation will occur inside the battery, which is equivalent to the process of relaxation from a tight state to a loose state. This phenomenon will occur in every charging and discharging process, and it is more obvious in fast charging. As shown in the figure, after 1.2C charging and standing for 40 minutes, the curve will have a certain downward trend, and the relaxation phenomenon is fully reflected.
Example 2
Example 2
This Example 2 mainly monitors the stress on the edge of the battery. The battery is relatively long, and the upper and lower ends are subjected to more stress due to the presence of the clamp, while the stress in the middle is not obvious. Before charging, the battery is subjected to less stress in the middle and the overall pressure is relatively high. As charging progresses, the battery expands, the stress area becomes significantly larger, the pressure data at the upper and lower ends gradually decreases, and pressure data begins to appear in the middle, and the overall pressure also decreases accordingly. After standing still, the battery relaxes and returns to its initial state. The stress area in the middle decreases and the overall pressure increases.
Battery internal expansion force monitoring
At present, a large number of lithium battery packs use multi-cell series-parallel form. Due to the individual differences of cells, it is impossible to achieve 100% balance in charging and discharging. Therefore, a complete charging management circuit is particularly necessary, which can perform perfect charging and discharging management of lithium battery packs. In response to the demand for monitoring the internal expansion force of such smart cells, Guowei Sensing has designed a cell embedded solution based on the internal structure and size of the cell, which can fully adapt to cover the internal structure of the cell. The sensor is thin and light, and can withstand the complex environment of force and electrolyte for a long time. It is fully integrated into the monitoring module of the smart cell, which can accurately measure the changes in the internal expansion force and provide real-time monitoring data for the safety monitoring and management of the cell.
