Lucid Motors and Wolfspeed Collaborate to Power the Award-Winning Lucid Air with SiC Semiconductors
Wolfspeed SiC power devices help Lucid Air achieve industry-leading performance and energy efficiency
April 28, 2022, Durham, North Carolina, USA and Shanghai, China - Wolfspeed, Inc., a global leader in silicon carbide (SiC) technology, recently announced an important collaboration with Lucid Motors. Lucid Motors will use Wolfspeed SiC power device solutions in its high-performance, all-electric Lucid Air. At the same time, Wolfspeed and Lucid Motors signed a multi-year agreement for Wolfspeed to produce and supply SiC devices.

The Lucid Air inverter is equipped with the Wolfspeed XM3 SiC power module . With its low switching loss, lowest possible resistance, and high power density, the Wolfspeed XM3 power module makes an important contribution to the efficiency and power density of the Lucid motor (74kg, 500kW).
