Recently, Tesla pushed the FSD (full self-driving capability) test version overseas.

In the beta, owners can choose from driving profiles, including Chill, Average and Assertive.

In confident mode, the autonomous driving behavior will become more aggressive, the vehicle will have a smaller following distance, and perform more frequent lane changes. In addition, the vehicle will not exit the passing lane and make rolling stops, but it is not yet known whether it will stop at the stop sign.

In Balanced and Calm modes, autonomous driving behavior becomes relatively conservative, with a larger following distance and fewer lane changes.

As Tesla's FSD is about to be launched on a large scale, its price is also rising.

Recently, Musk said that the price of Tesla's FSD software will be adjusted to $12,000 (about 76,500 yuan) on January 17. However, this price adjustment is only for the US market, and the price in the Chinese market will still be 64,000 yuan.

However, Tesla has not yet pushed the FSD function in China. Even if domestic car owners have already purchased it, they cannot use FSD's fully autonomous driving function.

The price of Tesla FSD continues to change as its functionality is upgraded.

According to statistics from Western Securities, in 2015, the FSD V7.0 version can achieve automatic steering, automatic emergency steering + side collision warning, automatic lane change, and automatic parking space search, with a price of US$2,500 per set; in 2018, the FSD V9.0 version can achieve autonomous driving in highway/intercity highway scenarios, with a price of US$5,000 per set; in 2020, the FSD Beta version can achieve fully autonomous driving on urban roads, and the price will double to US$10,000 per set.

The optional rate of Tesla FSD is also increasing.

Troyteslike data shows that in 2020, the optional rate of FSD in Model S/X models exceeded 60%, and the optional rate in  Model Y  models  exceeded 40%. The continuous increase in FSD optional rate and price has injected  momentum   into the improvement of Tesla's automotive business gross profit margin. Western Securities predicts that by 2025, the overall optional rate of Tesla FSD is expected to increase to 50%, and the gross profit contribution to the whole vehicle is about 30%.

Software subscription services have become a new growth point for Tesla's performance.

The financial report shows that in the third quarter of 2021, Tesla's service revenue, including FSD, was US$894 million, accounting for 6.5% of the revenue of US$13.757 billion in the quarter.
