Complete receiver front end for LiDAR system-on-chip

Omni Design Technologies, a leading provider of high-performance, ultra-low-power mixed-signal intellectual property (IP) solutions, has launched a lidar receiver subsystem covering FinFET to 28nm process nodes. This highly integrated multi-channel lidar subsystem combines multi-giga-sample analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs) and other signal chain IP to process the return signal from the photodiode to the digital interface within the lidar system-on-chip.

This highly integrated lidar subsystem can be easily configured for the number of signal processing channels, ADC resolution and sampling rate: signal processing channels: 4 to 32; ADC resolution: 8, 10 or 12 bits; sampling rate: several Msps to 5Gsps. The subsystem includes a reconfigurable ultra-low power, low-noise analog receiver front end (RxFE) located between the ADC and the off-chip photodiode. It also includes an integrated phase-locked loop (PLL), a bandgap reference, and a low-dropout linear regulator (LDO) to facilitate the implementation of a comprehensive analog signal processing solution.

“We offer complete subsystems, including our ultra-low power data converter IP cores, to accelerate product development at advanced process nodes,” said Dr. Kush Gulati, president and CEO of Omni Design Technologies. “Several market-leading customers have successfully integrated our lidar subsystems with their digital SoCs to deliver lidar products with improved performance and lower power consumption at competitive prices.”
