On September 25, the 2021 World Intelligent Connected Vehicle Conference opened in Beijing. Xiao Yaqing, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that China's intelligent connected vehicles are currently showing a strong development momentum, with continuous breakthroughs in key technologies, and the market penetration rate of L2 passenger cars has reached 20%. Test demonstrations are accelerating, with more than 5,000 square kilometers of open test areas nationwide and a total test mileage of more than 5 million kilometers. After the orderly advancement of the deployment of the Internet of Vehicles, more than 3,500 kilometers of roads across the country have been upgraded to intelligent ones, and more than 5 million vehicles are equipped with connected terminals.
Xiao Yaqing said that in order to accelerate the innovation of key technologies, my country will also focus on key technologies, carry out joint research, and promote the accelerated innovation and safe application of intelligent connected vehicles. By deepening open cooperation, my country will also encourage and support industry organizations and multinational companies in various countries to carry out extensive cooperation, jointly cultivate and develop future markets, and achieve win-win development.
Liu Zhao, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Public Security, pointed out that electrification, intelligence and networking have become the development trend of the automobile industry. As of now, China has 6.78 million new energy vehicles , and 1.87 million have been newly registered this year, accounting for 9.2% of the total number of newly registered vehicles. The Ministry of Public Security has always attached great importance to actively supporting the innovative development of new energy vehicles and intelligent networked vehicles, and has joined forces with multiple departments to accelerate open road testing.
Wang Zhiqing, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport, said that the Ministry of Transport has compiled the "14th Five-Year Plan" for the development of digital transportation, encouraging the integrated development of new transportation infrastructure. Recently, the Ministry of Transport has also released a new infrastructure action plan for the transportation sector, which specifically deploys the construction of smart highways, aiming to improve the digital level of all elements and the entire cycle of highway infrastructure and the ability of highway information services, and continuously enrich the application scenarios of vehicle-road collaboration.
Wang Jinzhan, member of the Party Leadership Group and Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology, believes that cars are transforming from simple transportation tools to intelligent mobile terminals, and cars are increasingly integrated with road infrastructure. Intelligent networked vehicles have become an important carrier and strategic direction for leading scientific and technological innovation and industrial transformation and upgrading. In the future, the next generation of new technologies will accelerate the integration and application of intelligent networked vehicles, promote the reconstruction of industrial innovation and the reorganization of the market ecology, and drive the whole society to accelerate the transformation to intelligence.
The theme of the 2021 World Intelligent Connected Vehicle Conference is "Introducing Innovation, Gathering Wisdom, and Creating a Green Future". It is co-organized by the Beijing Municipal People's Government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Transport, and the China Association for Science and Technology. During the four-day conference, experts, scholars, and corporate representatives from more than ten countries and regions around the world will discuss and exchange ideas online and offline.
Since 2018, the World Intelligent Connected Vehicle Conference has been held for four consecutive sessions, with Shunyi becoming the permanent venue for the conference. The organizing committee of the conference expects that the number of on-site spectators for this conference will exceed 10,000, and the total number of online live viewers will exceed 6 million.
