Recently, we learned from foreign media that Tesla obtained an important battery patent from Canadian startup Springpower International for only US$3. This patent can reduce the preparation process of anode materials in power batteries and reduce production costs.
At the Battery Day held last year, Tesla publicly announced its many technological achievements in the battery field, including a related manufacturing technology for battery positive electrode materials. This technology is similar to the patent exposed today. Drew Baglino, Tesla's engineering director, introduced this technology at the Battery Day, pointing out that the new positive electrode material preparation process will use recycled water without generating wastewater, and the entire production process has been greatly simplified, reducing investment by 66% and reducing costs in the production process by 76%.
As for why Tesla was able to obtain this important technology at a very low cost, foreign media speculated that it might be because Tesla acquired the company in a low-key manner.
