According to foreign media reports, Korean startup MORAI launched its new autonomous driving car simulation solution at the 2021 North American Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
By recreating roads, sensors and even vehicles in a virtual 3D simulation environment, MORAI's autonomous driving simulation solution allows users to freely test how their algorithms and software react to difficult or dangerous situations without causing risks to drivers or other vehicles. In a simulation environment, testers have full control over the scene, allowing them to test in unusual extreme, diverse weather conditions and edge cases.

At this year's CES, the solution focused on data-based scenario creation, where pre-recorded traffic data from a specific area can be used to recreate the same test scenarios as the recorded data. This means that users do not need to manually create test cases, but instead use actual data directly to enhance the authenticity and accuracy of the scenarios.
Real-world data is also key to building MORAI’s simulation environments, which are digital twins of specific areas based on a combination of detailed geospatial map data and satellite imagery. Simulation environments can range from a single city block or small highway segment to an entire urban area.
With the continuous development of its core technology and AV simulator, MORAI received approximately $2 million in Series A financing in November last year. Currently, the company plans to expand its network and cooperate with more than 50 international partners and customers. Jiwon Jung, co-founder and CEO of MORAI, said: "Last year's experience at CES was very valuable, helping global audiences understand our products and technologies. I hope that during this year's show, we can show the development of MORAI's core simulation technology and look forward to establishing relationships with leaders in the audio-visual industry, and even the automotive and technology industries."
