As a leading company in China's new energy motor systems, after successfully winning the favor of passenger car brands such as FAW , SAIC, Dongfeng , BAIC, and Geely , Jingjin Electric continues to deepen its presence in the commercial vehicle market.
On November 18, the 2020 Beijing International Road Transport Exhibition was held, and Jingjin Electric held the "Jingjin Electric High-Power Automotive Silicon Carbide Controller Product Launch Conference" on site. Zhou Xiaohang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport; Song Jingang, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of China Highway Vehicle Machinery Co., Ltd.; Liang Zhaowen, Vice President of Business of Foton Motor Group, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Auman Bus Division, and Yu Ping , Chairman, CEO and Chief Engineer of Jingjin Electric , unveiled the Jingjin Electric high-power silicon carbide controller together.
Due to Tesla's "star effect", its move to be the first in the industry to fully adopt silicon carbide to replace IGBT has also brought the term "silicon carbide" into the vision of more people.
As the next-generation semiconductor material recognized by the world as a replacement for silicon, silicon carbide has the obvious advantages of high voltage resistance, fast switching speed and low switching loss. It is a key factor in achieving the power density of automotive motor controllers.
"If the advantages of silicon carbide in the passenger car market are reflected in performance and efficiency, the advantages of silicon carbide in the commercial vehicle market are even more reflected in high efficiency. Buses and trucks are production tools, and their economic importance is far higher than that of the consumer market." Therefore, Yu Ping believes that the popularization and application of the third-generation semiconductor silicon carbide is an inevitable trend in the development of electric drive systems.
This time, the silicon carbide controller launched by Jingjin Electric has a power range of 300kW-600kW, and the energy saving rate can be maintained at 3%-6% according to the different working cycles of the vehicle. Yu Ping said that on the basis of maintaining the traditional advantages of Jingjin Electric controllers, the performance of the new product silicon carbide controller in terms of safety and power can also be ranked at the forefront of the electric drive industry.
At the scene, he also revealed that a customized version of this series of silicon carbide controllers has just received a batch order from TRATON Group, a commercial vehicle group under Volkswagen , and will be used in large quantities for TRATON Group's buses and heavy trucks in the global market, including well-known brands such as Germany's MAN and Sweden's Scania. Jingjin Electric won this order after more than a year of competition with top suppliers from Germany, Japan, and the United States. This is also the largest single commercial vehicle product order in the history of Jingjin Electric.
It is reported that in addition to China, Jingjin Electric's electric drive products are also widely used in the United States, Europe, Australia and other places. From 2014 to date, Jingjin Electric has sold a total of 110,000 sets of commercial vehicle electric drive systems, with a cumulative mileage of 12 billion kilometers, and the number continues to accumulate at 11 million kilometers per day.
