What parameters determine the emission distance of the infrared transmitter tube? [Copy link]

See the attached figure for Vishay infrared emitting tube selection parameter table.
Attached is the TS8510VB emitting tube specification sheet.

Question:
What parameters determine the emission distance of the infrared transmitter tube?

I think it is related to the following two factors:
1. Radiant Intensity;
2. Radiant Power.

However, I am not sure, so I came to the forum to ask for help from the experts!

There are mainly two indicators: transmission power and concentration rate, the latter of which is similar to the antenna gain in a radio transmission system. Under the same transmission power, if the light is concentrated by a lens system, the communication distance will be much farther than if it is not concentrated.   Details Published on 2020-7-2 15:46

It seems to be determined by power. The products we make also use infrared transmission and reception. If the distance exceeds a certain level, the receiver will not be able to receive it. Later, the hardware adjusted the relevant power and the distance was increased. However, I don’t know why now.
