Swoboda, an internationally renowned automotive parts supplier, has completed a comprehensive expansion of its Kunshan plant in the past two years, and the total area of the plant has now reached 45,000 square meters. This will enable the technology company, which has been producing in China and providing products for the Asian market since 2013, to better meet customer needs and new project requirements. Swoboda will invest more than 600 million yuan (about 75 million euros) in the expansion of the plant and currently has about 800 employees in East China.
Safety and efficiency are equally important
After the expansion, the Kunshan plant will have more than 25,000 square meters of production area, and another 20,000 square meters for warehousing and mold manufacturing as well as office and public areas. In order to use the existing space as efficiently as possible, the offices are distributed on four floors and the production workshops are distributed on two floors. The factory expansion meets modern building and environmental standards. Dr. Matthias Groth, owner of Swoboda Holding GmbH, said: "I am very happy to have successfully expanded in the rapidly developing China, which plays an important role in the global automotive industry and the continued development of our company."

In addition, security has also received close attention. Employees and visitors can easily travel between the new and old factory areas through an 84-meter-long cross-street bridge without having to cross public streets. The company's own child care room and underground parking lot are also the first of Swoboda's industrial enterprises in Kunshan.
Preparing for further growth in the region
At the beginning of October 2019, the first machine was installed in the new plant and production started shortly afterwards. Now, several challenging projects have been put into production in the new plant, and the production line can run reliably in three shifts. The plant can produce about 3 million components and system components per month. Thomas Cornelius, General Manager of Swoboda Automotive Electronics (Kunshan) Co., Ltd., said: "Thanks to the cooperation of all involved, the construction project went very smoothly from planning to implementation. We would like to especially thank the Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee, our general contractor and our employees for their incredible flexibility."

The new plant has been completed, and its technical scope includes electronic component assembly, stamping parts manufacturing, process engineering, mold manufacturing and electronic component integration.
