After achieving record-breaking results for fifteen consecutive years, the 16th Automechanika Shanghai will be held again at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from December 2 to 5, 2020 (Wednesday to Saturday). The exhibition is expected to attract about 6,650 exhibitors from the entire automotive industry chain to gather together, with a total exhibition area of 366,000 square meters. This year's Automechanika Shanghai will once again fully focus on the theme of "Building the Future Automotive Ecosystem", optimize and upgrade seven major sections and three special zones, and promote the integration of industrial resources and the cross-border development of innovative technologies.
Over the years, Automechanika Shanghai has been committed to the development direction of continuously expanding product categories horizontally and extending service scope vertically, serving the entire value chain of the automotive industry from automobile manufacturing, original equipment to aftermarket, and providing elements including supply, manufacturing, distribution, services, new business models and technical information for industry integration. In 2020, the exhibition will continue to build an industry platform for the entire automotive industry chain that integrates information exchange, market promotion, trade services and industry education.
Last year, the exhibition was fully centered around the theme of the automotive ecosystem and received positive feedback from industry insiders. In 2020, the exhibition will improve this concept. In addition to the existing full industry chain service scope, it will actively expand to other automotive-related industries, such as high-tech, financial services, start-ups and other fields. Currently, companies around the world are readjusting their strategic focus to meet the ever-changing market needs and effectively respond to the fiercely competitive new era of automobiles. With the in-depth cooperation with partners in a wide range of fields, the pace of cross-border integration has accelerated, and many new services, business models and solutions have emerged, which have also become a strong backing for the future development of the industry.
Automechanika Shanghai will make full use of the rich resources of visitors and exhibitors in the supply chain, focusing on global development trends such as digitalization, technology and consumption patterns that are completely changing the automotive market. At the same time, it will strengthen the upgraded presentation of trade exchanges, supply chain integration and sustainable development technologies, and further promote efficient procurement and exhibition experience.
According to the report, the scale of China’s automotive aftermarket is expected to reach RMB 1.435 trillion in 2020, with 60% of profits coming from the service sector [1] . On the other hand, digital transformation and changes in consumption patterns have brought the players in the automotive aftermarket closer together, and the pace of supply chain integration will continue to grow rapidly, especially in China.
Ms. Cecilia Chow, Deputy General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, explained how Automechanika Shanghai will reflect the cross-industry integration of the automotive industry: “The value growth points of the industry chain are constantly changing, and the industry is working hard to adapt and innovate to cater to this change. The road ahead requires closer cooperation among all sectors of the industry to provide a full range of consumer-centric services to increase market share. Therefore, we will re-plan the layout of the exhibition hall this year to reflect the current situation of the aftermarket and promote cross-industry cooperation.”
2020 sectors and special zones grasp industry trends
The Diagnosis & Repair/Body & Painting section moved to the second floor will bring the body painting and diagnosis and repair product categories, adjacent to the three major sections of automotive supplies, modification, and REIFEN tires and wheels, and the industrial service and supply chain chain area, one of the highlights, to achieve resource sharing and synergy. They will attract exhibitors and visitors from the fields of original equipment manufacturers, dealers, tire service providers, and repair stations from all over the world.
The Industrial Services and Supply Chain Chain Zone will fully demonstrate the changes in product distribution methods driven by the Internet and digital technology and the future development trends of the service industry. Currently, companies are making the most of data collected from information systems, databases and software to optimize supply channels and provide end users with better service experience. This zone will bring together more industry resources based on Internet business and new integrated systems.
In addition to actively expanding cooperation in the fields of auto finance, consulting, education, training and other service areas, the zone will also provide all-round and diversified solutions for chain stores, data management, e-commerce platforms and other supply chain fields. Related concurrent activities will encourage participants to establish new cooperative relationships with upstream and downstream fields of the supply chain and promote exchanges in all links of the industrial chain.
In addition, other special zones also play an important role in the automotive value chain. The automotive manufacturing technology zone, also located on the second floor, will showcase the latest automotive manufacturing equipment and related technologies to improve production efficiency. Exhibitors will bring new production processes to cope with increasingly complex automotive parts products. The parts remanufacturing zone in the parts and components section of the first floor will be committed to extending the life cycle of products and services and contributing to the circular economy and sustainable development.
The first floor exhibition hall will also welcome many exhibitors from the parts and components, tomorrow's travel, and the continuously expanding electronics and intelligent network sectors. Among them, the tomorrow's travel sector has become a central hub that runs through upstream and downstream cooperative development and brings together many incubation projects and industry cultivation. It has built a bridge of communication between start-ups and high-quality buyers, and also reflects the leading position of the exhibition in the automotive ecosystem. The sector accelerates the introduction of "government, industry, academia, research and application" industry resources, bringing together domestic and foreign business associations, scientific research institutions, commercial companies and investment institutions, etc., to provide commercialization possibilities for forward-looking products, technologies and concepts. At the same time, through the participation of a wide range of industry professionals, the display content of new energy, intelligent networking, autonomous driving and road infrastructure is continuously enriched.
Mr. Cheng Yongshun, Deputy General Manager of Sinomach International Cooperation, said: “As the digitalization trend of the automotive market continues to strengthen, the market is reshaping consumer needs and expectations. The continuous introduction of new technologies in the future is also changing the development trend of future automobiles. The various sections of Automechanika Shanghai will present more innovative products and technologies in intelligent transformation, electrification, energy saving and sustainable development, promote resource exchange and sharing in the automotive original equipment and aftermarket markets, and jointly create new technological value and market opportunities.”
Automechanika Shanghai is jointly organized by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and China National Machinery Industry International Cooperation Co., Ltd. The organizers attach great importance to the public health safety of all parties participating in the exhibition. The exhibition will work closely with local epidemic prevention and control departments to formulate a series of joint prevention and control measures to ensure the health and safety of participants.
