As the current leader in the ICT (communication technology) industry, Huawei is clearly not satisfied with the status quo. Previously, Huawei's rotating chairman Xu Zhijun said bluntly: "Huawei does not build cars, but focuses on ICT technology to help car companies build good cars." This shows that Huawei is determined to become a new supplier in the automotive industry.
However, the status of a supplier in the automotive industry is not just about who is qualified. Only when the supplier's products and services have passed the automotive-grade certification will they be adopted by automakers. Just recently, Huawei received good news that it has made new progress in security certification.
It is understood that the German Rhine TV Group has issued the ISO 26262 functional safety management certification certificate to Huawei's MDC intelligent driving computing platform. The standard covers functional safety requirements planning, design, implementation, integration, verification, validation and configuration.
This also means that Huawei's MDC intelligent driving computing platform has been recognized by the automotive industry in terms of safety, which is an important turning point in the research and development process. Next, Huawei's MDC intelligent driving computing platform will enter the fast lane of development.
According to reports, Huawei's MDC intelligent driving computing platform is developed based on the self-developed Kunpeng CPU and Ascend AI processor, equipped with a self-developed intelligent driving OS, and is an open and standardized platform product. The computing platform can support the smooth evolution from L2+ advanced driving assistance to L5 autonomous driving . Huawei's MDC intelligent driving platform has established cooperation with 18 mainstream car companies and first-class suppliers, covering application scenarios such as passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and special operation vehicles.
Of course, the MDC intelligent driving computing platform is only part of Huawei's strategic layout for intelligent vehicles. In order to deepen its presence in the automotive industry, Huawei still has a lot to do. For example, Huawei has also developed the Harmony OS for the Internet of Things , and the system will be first used in cars, such as in car computers.
According to previous news released by Huawei, Hongmeng is expected to obtain automotive-grade standard certification in 2020.
