EB Assist Test Lab provides engineers with a powerful tool that can significantly increase efficiency, streamline team workflows, and bring systems and features to production faster with a single tool.
Cloud services including Microsoft Azure provide greater flexibility and scalability
Elektrobit (EB), a global supplier of visionary embedded and connected software products for the automotive industry, today launched a cloud-based tool for end-to-end validation of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving (AD) systems. Available on Microsoft Azure, the new EB Assist Test Lab provides a single solution for distributed teams to more easily manage petabytes of driving scenario data generated during validation and verification in real and simulated test drives, collaborate, and ultimately bring the latest features to production faster.
Currently, automotive engineering teams are forced to use multiple, often uncoordinated tools to handle the entire verification and validation process. As automotive systems become more complex and data-intensive, this process becomes more challenging and complex. Scaling these complex systems is even more problematic. The range of people involved in the process, including test drivers, engineers, data experts, IT professionals, and project managers, is often located in different locations around the world, making data compilation and management even more difficult.
EB Assist Test Lab provides a unique end-to-end verification and validation approach, resulting in a "one-stop" solution that brings together existing tools on the market and fills key gaps with additional features. It covers the entire test cycle from data collection to data analysis, including optimized collaboration processes, integration with third-party tools and services, data processing and management. The comprehensive goals of workflow improvement, efficiency improvement, and ultimate acceleration of progress will all be achieved through the new EB product.
“We worked closely with our customers to identify pain points in current testing processes and built a completely new product from the ground up to address a wide range of needs in validation and verification workflows,” said Martin Schleicher, Executive Vice President of Business Management at Elektrobit. “In addition, we have identified a network of best-in-class providers in cloud services, simulation technology, and AI to provide our customers with the ultimate automotive testing solution. We are proud to announce the launch of EB Assist Test Lab on Azure with the support of our partner Microsoft, whose Azure cloud computing platform will bring tremendous benefits to our customers, including global scalability, unparalleled flexibility, and enterprise-grade security, enabling automotive manufacturers to quickly test and analyze data to get to market faster without the burden of infrastructure implementation and maintenance.”
By working with cloud partners like Microsoft and data center providers like Equinix, EB Assist Test Lab is infinitely scalable to handle the massive amounts of data generated by today’s increasingly complex systems equipped with radar, lidar, and high-resolution cameras. Currently, the average daily data collection for a car is hundreds of MB per second, and this number is expected to increase to GB per second in the next generation of cars.
“Securely collecting and storing data at scale and making it available anywhere and at any time is critical to delivering autonomous driving solutions,” said Sanjay Ravi, general manager, automotive industry, Microsoft Corporation. “Microsoft is working with Elektrobit to help them address the increasingly challenging and time-consuming testing and validation process to accelerate the development of advanced driving applications.”
According to a recent study by McKinsey & Company, the workload in the verification and validation category is experiencing rapid growth as automotive software is developed and integrated, and is expected to grow at a rate of 10% per year between 2020 and 2030. Given the needs of increasingly complex ADAS and AD systems, verification and validation are expected to account for approximately 29% of the total automotive software market ($24 billion) by 2030.
EB Assist Test Lab is available now. More details are available on the official website .
