Hyundai Mobis, a South Korean Tier 1 auto parts supplier, said in a press release that it has worked with Cognitive Pilot, a Russian self-driving car company, to develop a software module that enables active safety functions and autonomous driving.
The software module is based on computer vision and is able to identify different objects moving along the road, such as various types of cars, buses, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. As Hyundai Mobis said, the core technology used in the development of this software module is deep learning neural network, which can provide the required recognition accuracy. This new ADAS system and computer vision software module can reach L3 and L4 levels.
Commenting on the new software, Olga Uskova, President of Cognitive Technologies, said: “The main goal of our collaboration was to create one of the most reliable and safest autonomous driving systems in the world. We have successfully solved the most difficult task of accurately detecting traffic participants such as pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and other objects without a fixed shape. The system works in almost all conditions: rain, snow, fog, sun and at night. In the near future, we expect to sign more exclusive agreements with the world’s leading car manufacturers and OEMs to continue the development of ground transportation and 4D imaging radar sensors.”
