According to foreign media reports, Oxbotica, a leading supplier of autonomous vehicle software, announced a strategic partnership with Navtech Radar. Navtech Radar is a pioneer in technology and innovation, providing the most technologically advanced and adaptable radar detection systems. This collaboration will produce a solution that can change various industries to further deploy autonomous vehicles (AVs) in any conditions and any environment, such as mines, airports, warehouses, forests, etc.
Off-road industrial vehicles often operate in remote areas under low visibility conditions. By integrating Oxbotica’s software with Navtech’s powerful high-definition radar, the two companies will be able to further improve AV positioning and perception capabilities in such environments.
Currently deployed on five continents and in more than 60 countries, Navtech’s high-definition radars are capable of detecting and tracking objects in hazardous situations and operating in all weather conditions including dense fog, making them ideal for off-road commercial applications.
The collaboration will see Oxbotica integrate its software into Navtech’s hardware, starting with the ruggedised CIR sensors and the new compact CAS (FMCW) 76 GHz radar, first developing a ranging solution and then expanding on the radar’s positioning capabilities.
Such capabilities will enable Oxbotica to further meet the growing industry demand for autonomous driving software applications for vehicles on and off highways, and are part of Oxbotica’s vision of ‘Pervasive Automation’, which it hopes to deploy across a range of industries in collaboration with customers and partners around the world.
