According to foreign media reports, Luxoft Holdings announced a partnership with Mapbox on June 6, local time. The two companies will work together to integrate Mapbox's AI location data platform and AR navigation deployment into automotive infotainment and navigation systems. Luxoft is a global digital strategy and engineering company, and Mapbox is a provider of real-time location data platforms for automotive, mobile and web applications.
As the mobility ecosystem continues to evolve, driven by personalization and on-demand Mobility as a Service (MaaS), automakers and their suppliers are looking for ways to replace existing navigation systems with personalized, multimodal navigation systems.
More than 500 million active users access Mapbox maps every month through applications that have built-in Mapbox SDKs. These applications generate more than 300 million miles of driving data every day, so Mapbox maps can update more than 100,000 anonymous location data per second, which can continuously detect unpredictable situations in traffic and changes in road networks. Mapbox Traffic covers 161 cities around the world and can update 2.3 billion road segments every 5 minutes.
The Mapbox Vision SDK (Vision) provides drivers with a 3D view of their location and works with the Mapbox Navigation SDK (Navigation) to project the route ahead in augmented reality. Users can use the Vision SDK's AR projection mode to change the map's perspective, highlight important roadside landmarks, or provide lane-level routing options.
Luxoft's services focus on digital cockpit and driver experience, autonomous driving and next-generation vehicle platforms, and connected mobility from cloud infrastructure to mobile user experience.
