Spain's Grenergy announced that it will expand its world-class solar energy storage project supply agreement with BYD in Chile to 3GWh.
According to the new agreement, after BYD provided 1.1GWh of energy storage systems for the first and second phases of the Atacama Oasis project in Chile, BYD will also provide its MC Cube solution for the third phase project.
In the third phase of the project, 537 containerized energy storage system units are expected to be added, and delivery is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.
At present, the installed capacity of the first phase of the project has successfully passed the factory acceptance test (FAT), which verified the normal operation status of the energy storage system.
Grenergy’s CEO said the extension of the strategic agreement with BYD marks a major milestone in the expansion plan and will drive storage projects to an unprecedented scale to build a more efficient and sustainable energy system.
