MILPITAS, CA – May 7, 2013 – Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTM4637, a 20A DC/DC step-down µModule® regulator with built-in precision differential remote sense amplifier. The device automatically corrects voltage errors caused by PCB trace voltage drops and is suitable for powering loads such as FPGAs that require high current at low voltages. The total output DC voltage accuracy is guaranteed to be ±1.5% over the -40ºC to 125ºC range. The LTM4637 includes the inductor, MOSFET, DC/DC controller and compensation circuitry. It is packaged in a low-profile 4.32mm LGA package and 15mm x 15mm footprint. The device has a VIN range of 4.5V to 20V and optimizes the operating efficiency of 5V and 12V input systems (88%, 12VIN, 1.8VOUT/20A). The output voltage can be set with a single resistor from 0.6 V to 5.5 V. Four devices in parallel can deliver 80 A of load current. Applications include industrial and medical equipment, as well as networking and telecommunication systems.
One of the key features of the LTM4637 is its drop-in replacement and pin-compatibility with the LTM4627 15A output µModule regulator. Pin compatibility is very important to system designers because these products can be interchanged at any stage from development to production without modifying the layout. Linear Technology offers a range of pin-compatible µModule devices.
The LTM4637 features protection against overcurrent and overvoltage conditions. The device's internal temperature can be monitored via an internal temperature sensing diode. The LTM4637 is rated for operation over the -40°C to 125°C temperature range. Pricing starts at $22.10 each in 1,000-piece quantities. For more information, visit www.linear.com.cn/product/LTM4637.
