Overview
The MAX5181 is a 10-bit, current-output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) designed for signal reconstruction or arbitrary waveform generation applications requiring low distortion and low-power operation for superior performance in analog signal reconstruction. The MAX5184 offers equal specifications for voltage-output operation with on-chip precision resistors. The MAX5181/MAX5184 are designed for 1-10pV-s operation to minimize unwanted interference from spurious components at the output. An onboard 1.2V bandgap circuit provides a well-regulated, low-noise reference that can be used to disable the external reference for operation.
These devices are designed to provide a high level of signal integrity with minimal power consumption. They operate from a single 2.7V to 3.3V supply. Additionally, these DACs have three operating modes: normal, low-power standby, and full shutdown, which provides the lowest possible power consumption with a 1μA (max) shutdown current. A fast wake-up time (0.5μs) from standby mode facilitates full DAC operation by activating the DAC power protection only when needed.
The MAX5181/MAX5184 are available in a 24-pin QSOP package and are specified over the extended (-40°C to 85°C) temperature range. In addition, the MAX5184 is available in a 24-pin TQFN with an exposed pad (EP) and is specified over the extended (-40°C to 85°C) temperature range.
