The MAX16065/MAX16066 flash-configurable system managers monitor and sequence multiple system voltages. The MAX16065/MAX16066 also accurately monitor (±2.5%) a current channel using a dedicated high-side current-sense amplifier. The MAX16065 can manage 12 system voltages simultaneously, and the MAX16066 can manage 8 supply voltages. Both devices integrate an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with selectable differential or single-ended inputs and configurable sequenced power outputs. All device configuration information, including overvoltage thresholds, undervoltage thresholds, timing settings, and sequencing, is stored in nonvolatile flash memory. In the event of a fault, the fault flag and channel voltage can be automatically stored in nonvolatile flash memory to allow fault information to be read back after a fault occurs.
An internal 1% accurate 10-bit ADC is used to measure each input and compare the result with the overvoltage threshold, undervoltage threshold, and warning threshold configured as undervoltage or overvoltage. A fault alarm signal is generated when the detected voltage exceeds the set threshold. Up to three independent alarm outputs can be configured for different fault conditions.
Because the MAX16065/MAX16066 support supply voltages up to 14V, these devices can be powered directly from the 12V intermediate bus voltage found in most systems.
An integrated sequencer ensures accurate control of 12 (MAX16065) or 8 (MAX16066) power supplies during power-up and power-down. Eight outputs (EN_OUT1–EN_OUT8) can directly drive external n-channel MOSFETs in conjunction with the charge-pump outputs.
The MAX16065/MAX16066 have 8/6 programmable general-purpose input/output pins (GPIO_). GPIO_ can be configured via flash to function as fault outputs, watchdog inputs or outputs, and manual resets.
The MAX16065/MAX16066's nonvolatile fault memory is used to log information when the system is powered off. The fault log records fault conditions in internal flash memory, and a latch bit protects the stored fault data to prevent erroneous erasure. The MAX16065/MAX16066 are configured using the SMBus™ or JTAG serial interface. The MAX16065 is available in a 48-pin, 7mm x 7mm TQFN package, and the MAX16066 is available in a 40-pin, 6mm x 6mm TQFN package. Both devices operate over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range.
