How to judge the quality of degaussing resistor for color TV
The degaussing resistor in color TV is a nonlinear resistor and a positive temperature coefficient resistor.
Common specifications of degaussing resistors are 40R, 27R, 20R, 18R, 12R, etc. The degaussing coils with different parameters in color TVs have different resistance values of the degaussing resistors.
It is very simple to judge the quality of the degaussing resistor: at room temperature, the actual resistance value obtained by a multimeter is normal if it differs from its nominal value by plus or minus 2R. If the measured resistance value is less than 8R or greater than 5R, it is judged that its performance is poor or it has been damaged.
The measurement method is:
The multimeter should be turned to the RX1 position and the degaussing coil plug on the printed circuit board should be unplugged to cut off the path of the degaussing coil between the degaussing resistors.
It is not advisable to measure immediately after the color TV is turned off. Because the temperature of the degaussing resistor is high at this time, the measured resistance value will be much greater than the nominal value, resulting in misjudgment. The measurement should be started after the degaussing resistor cools to room temperature.
When the degaussing resistor is damaged, it is best to replace it with a degaussing resistor of the same model or resistance value. If there is no spare part of the same model, it can be replaced with a degaussing resistor with a resistance value difference of 3-5R. Practice has shown that the degaussing effect does not change significantly and can be used.
