How to Repair Carbonization Faults in Plugs and Sockets

There is a washing machine that uses a three-core round plug. When plugged in, smoke came out from the inside of the plug and the power fuse blew out. Inspection revealed that the power supply was short-circuited because the two power cords of the plug were damaged by moisture and water, which caused carbonization.
Repair method: Use a knife to carefully scrape off the carbonized layer, apply a layer of insulating paint, and dry it before use. If there is no insulating paint, you can also apply a layer of varnish or ordinary blending paint, paraffin, to enhance the waterproof performance.
There are many electrical appliances that produce this kind of fault, such as rice cookers, electric cups, electric stoves, electric irons, etc. Generally, those with lighter carbonization can be used after removing the carbonized layer.
Carbonization faults can also occur when the bakelite insulation board and the casing are electrified, causing electric shock accidents. For example, a domestic 55-type telex machine has an electrified casing (220V). After investigation, it was found that the wiring board in the motor junction box was carbonized and contacted with the casing. Scrape off the carbonized layer and the machine will not be electrified.
