After using a multimeter for a period of time, it was found that the pointer could not be reset to zero, and sometimes the pointer would stay at a certain deflection position. The reason is that the case of the multimeter is made of plexiglass. Since the dust on the surface is often wiped by hand or other flannel during use, as the use time increases, the number of frictions increases, causing static electricity to be attracted inside the case, especially in the dry air in autumn and winter, so the pointer will stay at a certain position during measurement.
When encountering a fault of static adsorption of the pointer, 5% of the new Chlorhexidine solution (available at chemical stores) can be diluted with 30% distilled water, and then a cotton ball dipped in the prepared solution can be evenly applied to the inside and outside of the multimeter case, and placed in a place with a temperature of about 38~40°C to dry, and the fault can be eliminated. It
can also be eliminated by using glycerin and salt water to eliminate the static electricity on the dial.
