Another major technological breakthrough based on 5G has been achieved in my country. According to reports, on the morning of July 9, the urology team of Hainan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and experts from Peking University First Hospital remotely linked up and successfully performed robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy on a 75-year-old patient, relying on domestic robots + 5G communication technology. This is the first time that my country's independently developed surgical robot has achieved simultaneous transmission of 5G signals across land and sea, and successfully completed difficult surgeries in clinical practice.
It is understood that due to the influence of variable environmental factors such as surges, temperature and weather, it is relatively difficult to continuously transmit signals across the sea. Cross-sea remote surgery has become an international technical challenge currently faced by the medical industry.
During this operation, experts from Hainan and Beijing organically combined the surgical robot with 5G communication technology to build an integrated system with almost identical frequency and synchronization. While ensuring continuous and stable signal transmission, they controlled the time difference of remote operation to within 100 milliseconds, basically realizing real-time exchange of intraoperative information.
This is also one of the key application areas of 5G. Many people have complained before that they have a weak perception of 5G. In fact, it is because people are not very aware of "low latency", a key technology of 5G in their daily lives. The biggest change felt in daily life is that the Internet speed is slightly faster than 4G.
In addition to this type of remote surgery, 5G is of great significance in many factories, transportation facilities, etc. that have high requirements for latency. The fully autonomous vehicles of the future will also be deeply integrated with 5G.
