As an important branch of computer development, single-chip microcomputers can be roughly divided into general-purpose/special-purpose, bus-type/non-bus-type and industrial control/home appliance types from different perspectives according to the current development situation.

General/Special

This is divided according to the scope of application of the single-chip microcomputer. For example, 80C51 is a general-purpose single-chip microcomputer, which is not designed for a specific purpose; a dedicated single-chip microcomputer is designed and produced for a class of products or even a specific product. For example, in order to meet the requirements of an electronic thermometer, a temperature measurement control circuit with functions such as an ADC interface is integrated on the chip.

Bus type/non-bus type

This is distinguished by whether the single-chip microcomputer provides a parallel bus. Bus-type single-chip microcomputers are generally equipped with parallel address buses,  data buses, and control buses. These pins are used to expand parallel peripheral devices and can be connected to the single-chip microcomputer through serial ports. In addition, many single-chip microcomputers have integrated the required peripheral devices and peripheral interfaces into one chip, so in many cases, parallel expansion buses are not required, which greatly reduces packaging costs and chip size. This type of single-chip microcomputer is called a non-bus type single-chip microcomputer.

Control type/home appliance type

This is based on the general application areas of single-chip microcomputers. Generally speaking, industrial control type has a large addressing range and strong computing power; single-chip microcomputers used in household appliances are mostly special-purpose, usually with small packages, low prices, and high integration of peripheral devices and peripheral interfaces.  Obviously, the above classification is not unique and strict. For example, 80C51 type single-chip microcomputers are both general-purpose and bus-type, and can also be used for industrial control.

51 single chip microcomputer buzzer
The principle of buzzer sound is that the current passes through the electromagnetic coil, which makes the electromagnetic coil generate a magnetic field to drive the vibration membrane to make sound. Therefore, a certain current is required to drive it. The current output by the IO pin of the microcontroller is small
