On April 11, SK Group's SK siltron is the only semiconductor wafer manufacturer in South Korea and the fifth largest silicon wafer manufacturer in the world. Currently, the company produces SiC wafers in South Korea and the United States, and is also developing GaN wafers.

SK Siltron will receive approximately US$77 million (IT Home Note: currently approximately RMB 558 million) in support from the US government, including investment subsidies and tax incentives, to expand its next-generation power semiconductor material silicon carbide (SiC) wafer factory in Michigan.

It is worth mentioning that SK Siltron's US subsidiary SK Siltron CSS received a loan support of US$54 million (currently approximately RMB 392 million) from the US Department of Energy in February this year.

SK Siltron CSS plans to complete the expansion of its Bay City plant by 2027 using funding from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Michigan state government. The company is producing SiC wafers for electric vehicles and energy storage systems (ESS) in the United States and currently operates a plant in Bay City.
