(Austin, Texas, April 9, 2024) – Ambiq, a recognized global leader in ultra-low power semiconductor solutions, and PUFsecurity Corporation, a subsidiary of eMemory Technology Inc. that develops security solutions based on physically unclonable functions (PUFs), announced the successful collaboration to integrate PUFsecurity’s PUF-based hardware root of trust IP, PUFrt, into Ambiq’s latest Apollo510 . Apollo510 is a new generation of the Apollo series SoC that combines vector computing acceleration with ultra-high security and performance to enable most AI operations on the device without a dedicated NPU.

The Apollo510 SoC is built on Ambiq's Subthreshold Power Optimization Technology (SPOT®) platform to meet the low power and high performance required for edge advanced AI applications. The Apollo510 uses PUFrt's physical unclonable function (PUF), anti-fuse OTP, true random number generator (TRNG) and controller integrated architecture to enhance the robustness and integrity of the chip configuration during Apollo510 startup and runtime, which are critical for secure operation and low power operation.

In order to provide a higher level of security protection for the device, Apollo510 combines TrustZone technology and uses PUFrt's chip unique identity to verify secure boot and protect application IP. PUFrt not only provides a secure hardware root of trust and one-time programmable key storage, but also has an anti-tampering mechanism to ensure its security and reliability.

“PUFsecurity’s PUFrt helps Ambiq further strengthen the security of its products and overall solutions,” said Dan Cermak, Vice President of Architecture and Product Planning at Ambiq. “With the rapid adoption of AI applications in smart homes, industrial IoT, digital health, and smart buildings and cities, this integration is a great fit for Ambiq’s customers, allowing them to quickly deploy products in a secure and trusted execution environment.”

"The growing Internet of Things (IoT) and a variety of smart wearable devices have become an indispensable part of daily life, and these devices store a large amount of personal information, which requires strong security measures to protect." Dr. Xu Qingxiang, Chairman and General Manager of Entropy Technology, said. "Our innovative cooperation with Ambiq uses PUF technology to enhance chip-level security, making smart devices energy-efficient and secure, providing a more perfect solution for terminal applications."

The Apollo510 SoC is currently sampling to customers and will be generally available in the fourth quarter of this year. Ambiq will also be showcasing more product information at the Embedded World exhibition in Hall 3, Booth 301 from April 9 to 11, 2024. At the same time, PUFsecurity will also be showcasing more PUF-based security solutions in Hall 4, Booth 626.
