[Munich, Germany, December 13, 2022] Infineon Technologies AG has once again been selected for the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index. This is the thirteenth consecutive year that Infineon has been among the world's most sustainable companies. The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is published by RobecoSAM, an authoritative investment institution specializing in sustainable development.
Constanze Hufenbecher, Chief Digital Transformation Officer at Infineon Technologies, said: “Infineon is honored to be listed among the world’s most sustainable companies for the thirteenth time in a row. This repeated inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index is recognition that we are achieving our ambitious sustainability goals. Infineon is driving semiconductor innovation to support decarbonization and the global transition to net zero emissions, while keeping pace with the digital transformation.”
Infineon Technologies aims to be carbon neutral by 2030 and reduce its CO2 emissions by 70% by 2025 compared to 2019. So far, Infineon has reduced its carbon emissions by 23.4%. By the end of 2022, Infineon's factories in the United States will switch to renewable energy power supply along with its European factories.
As a semiconductor leader in power management systems and the Internet of Things, Infineon has made important contributions to promoting energy transformation and realizing future travel, and has also driven the entire industry to continue to move towards the net zero goal. Infineon's products and solutions achieve carbon dioxide emissions reductions over the entire life cycle that are equivalent to 33 times the carbon dioxide emissions during the production process. After deducting the carbon emissions generated during the manufacturing process, Infineon's solutions can achieve 97 million tons of carbon emissions reductions over the entire life cycle.
This year, Infineon Technologies AG performed well in innovation management and received the highest score. The entire evaluation covers R&D, product innovation and process innovation, such as through digitalization and Industry 4.0 applications. Infineon Technologies AG’s collaboration with academia, companies and start-ups, i.e. its contribution to open innovation, is also part of the evaluation.
Infineon Technologies actively encourages employees and management to participate in the company's sustainability strategy. For example, the variable remuneration of the Management Board also depends on the company's progress in achieving ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) goals.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is recognized worldwide as one of the most important reference benchmarks for measuring sustainable development. By evaluating the economic, environmental and social performance of companies, the index selects the world's most sustainable companies from 61 industries. The index aims to help investors incorporate sustainable development into their investment portfolios so that they can make reliable decisions and encourage companies to further promote sustainable development.
