New MATLAB Test enables engineers and researchers to develop, execute, measure, and manage dynamic tests in MATLAB code at scale

MATLAB and Simulink Version 2023a also includes new and updated blocksets and toolboxes to simplify Model-Based Design in the aerospace, automotive, and wireless communications industries

Beijing, China, March 22, 2023 - MathWorks today released Version 2023a (R2023a) of the MATLAB® and Simulink® product families. R2023a introduces two new products and enhancements to support engineers and researchers in developing, executing, managing, testing, validating, and documenting their MATLAB code projects.

MATLAB Test™ enables engineers and researchers to develop, execute, measure, and manage dynamic tests of MATLAB code at scale . The new product helps organizations organize and manage tests and results for projects by grouping, saving, and running custom test suites. Engineers and researchers can optimize their work by using industry-standard code coverage metrics to identify untested code paths. These metrics include condition, decision, and modified condition/decision coverage (MC/DC), among others. MATLAB Test users can also use the product to create interactive graphical summaries of code quality metrics based on project-based quality dashboards, as well as clickable details of code analysis, code coverage, test results, and requirements to increase visibility into code readiness through intuitive summaries.

R2023a also introduces the new C2000 Microcontroller Blockset™ for designing, simulating and implementing applications for TI C2000™ microcontrollers. The blockset enables engineers and researchers to model digital power conversion and motor control applications. The product also includes peripheral blocks such as digital IO, ADC and ePWM for simulating control algorithms requiring ADC-PWM synchronization in industrial and automotive applications using C2000 motor control units (MCUs).

“The new products in R2023a are designed for engineers and researchers who must efficiently build safety-critical systems," said David Ritchie, director of product marketing at MathWorks. "With these new products and enhancements, our customers will experience increased quality and automation in their DevOps-integrated workflows.”

R2023a also includes significant updates to MATLAB and Simulink tools, including:

- Aerospace Blockset™ provides Simulink reference examples and blocks for modeling, simulating, and analyzing high-fidelity aircraft, rotorcraft, and spacecraft platforms. The blockset includes vehicle dynamics, validated flight environment models, and blocks for pilot behavior, actuator dynamics, and powertrains.

- Communications Toolbox™ provides a variety of algorithms and applications for analysis, design, end-to-end simulation, and verification of communications systems. The toolbox provides algorithms including channel coding, modulation, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM), enabling engineers and researchers to build and simulate physical layer models of wireless communication systems based on standards or custom designs.

- Powertrain Blockset™ provides pre-built automotive reference applications for engineers and researchers using Model-Based Design to design gasoline, diesel, hybrid, fuel cell, and battery electric drive systems. The product includes a component library for engines, traction motors, batteries, transmissions, tires, driver models, and component and supervisory controllers.

- Vehicle Dynamics Blockset™ provides pre-built vehicle dynamics reference applications for passenger cars, trucks, and two-wheelers. The blockset includes a component library for powertrain, steering, suspension, body, brakes, tires, driver models, and components and supervisory controllers.
